In season on the Avalon

This is a rough guide to what’s in season on the Avalon here in Newfoundland.

JUNE – Asparagus, Chives, Edible ‘weeds’ (nettle, dandelion, sorrel), Herbs, Rhubarb, Salad Greens

JULY – Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Chard, Green onion, Herbs, Kale, Radish, Rhubarb, Salad greens (arugula, asian greens, beet greens, cress, endive, lettuce, mustard, radicchio, spinach, etc.)

AUGUST – Beans, Beets, Blueberries, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Carrots, Chard, Cucumber, Currants, Garlic, Gooseberries, Herbs, Kale, Onions, Peas (snow & shelling), Raspberries, Radish, Strawberries, Summer Squash, Tomatoes, Salad greens

SEPTEMBER – Apples, Artichokes, Beans, Beets, Blueberries, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Chard, Cucumber, Herbs, Kale, Leeks, Onions, Partridgeberries, Pears, Peas, Peppers, Plums, Potatoes, Radish, Summer Squash, Tomatoes, Turnip, Salad greens
