Vendor Applications are now CLOSED for the 2012 season. Applications for the 2013 season (June to mid-December) will be available in April 2013.
Due to the popularity and great success of our market, coupled with our limited indoor space and the oncoming cold weather, it is quickly becoming very difficult to offer space to every person who would like to sell at the market for the remainder of the season. We average sixty vendors each week on our waiting list.
This is why the St. John’s Farmers’ Market Board of Directors have decided to close the vendor applications to new vendors for the remainder of the 2012 season.
That said, space will always be available to farmer/produce vendors whether they are a returning vendor or have never sold at our market previously.
New craft vendors must have their product juried to sell at the market and new prepared food vendors must go through an inspection and licensing process undertaken by the provincial government prior to being accepted as a vendor at our market. The Board felt that to have potential vendors go through the process at this point in the year when they will only have at most a couple of opportunities to vend at the market was an unfair expectation.
We hope that potential vendors understand the Board’s reasoning for making this decision. We hope that you submit your vendor applications for 2013 when they are made available in April 2013 and when there remains plenty of time to undertake the jurying and licensing process.
