We NEED volunteers – please help!

You may know that the St. John’s Farmers’ Market is primarily a volunteer-run organization. Although we do hire a temporary, full-time Market Manager for eight months of the year, and a Market Assistant for each market day, most of the work done at or for our market is done by volunteers. Volunteers serve on our Board of Directors, others on committees and some at the market itself.

Many of our market day volunteers come from the university, primarily through the International Student Office. University students are busy with exams in August, September and December and for us this means that unfortunately we don’t have as many awesome volunteers to rely on as we do for most of the market season.

We are seeking volunteers to help each market day for at least the month of August. Please take a glance through at the following volunteer duties and please consider volunteering some of your time with us.

As a volunteer, you can help with the following:

7:15 – 9 am

  • Help bring supplies up from basement
  • Help set up vendor tents outdoors
  • Set out tables and chairs for outdoor vendors
  • 9 am – Noon

  • Sell coffee
  • Assist at the coffee station where needed, keeping area clean and stocked
  • Circulate to help keep grounds clean
  • Help by counting customers
  • Noon – 3 pm

  • Sell coffee

  • Help keep grounds clean
  • Help by counting customers
  • Between 2-3 pm, help take down tents, put away tables and stack chairs, see we leave the grounds clean
  • Our market is valued and appreciated by the community – we hope you appreciate it too. Please consider volunteering a few hours of your time this August to help us continue to offer the quality market experience that our customers and vendors have fallen in love with.
