St. John’s Farmers Market ­ Marketing & Promotions Assistant

Responsible to the St. John’s Farmers’ Market Board of Directors, the Marketing and Promotions Assistant will play an integral role in promoting the market’s presence to both the residents of St. John’s and to others around the province and the country. The successful applicant will lead the Market’s outreach and marketing efforts during the busiest months of the market season.

The St. John’s Farmers’ Market is much more than just a place to shop ­ it is also a community space that hosts performances, workshops, and other activities. The Marketing and Promotions Assistant will help maximize the value brought to the community through these activities. They will also play an important role in drawing new customers to the Farmers’ Market.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Graphic design for posters, banners, signs, advertisements, etc.
  • Arranging for advertisements to be placed in various local media
  • Managing the Market’s social media accounts
  • Distributing marketing materials such as posters and brochures
  • Organizing, facilitating, and promoting on­site activities for Market days
  • Organizing off­site promotional events as directed by the Market’s Marketing Committee
  • This is a student summer job funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible to participate in the CSJ initiative, individuals must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act3; and,
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
