Shakespeare by the Sea and FEASt at the St. John’s Farmers’ Market!

Visit the St. John’s Farmers’ Market at the Lions Chalet on Bonaventure Avenue between 9:00AM and 2:00PM, this Saturday July 5th. Get a cup of coffee, a bite to eat and your groceries, and stick around to get active, have a laugh and learn something new!

Starting this week, Shakespeare by the Sea will be performing Shake it Up! at the Market at 11:00AM and 1:00PM. From the Shakespeare by the Sea website: “Shake it Up! is a fun, light and highly entertaining way to introduce new audiences to Shakespeare! You get to see the bones of four of Shakespeare’s great plays Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet – and all in under 45 minutes! With an energetic and enthusiastic cast performing outside the popular St. John’s Farmers Market, who could ask for more?” Performances will run every Saturday  until August 16th.

This Saturday will also mark the beginning of FEASt workshops at the Market. On the First Saturday of July, August and September, visit the Market to participate in workshops pertaining to something near and dear to all of our hearts- food!

On July 5th, Lisa and Steve McBride will lead an “Animals in the City” workshop at 11:00AM . From the FEASt Facebook page : “Learn about the value and pleasure of keeping a few animals in your urban backyard! Lisa and Steve keep goats, rabbits, and ducks for food (and entertainment!) in their back yard near downtown St. John’s. Learn more about their adventures and be inspired to start your own backyard farm.” If you’re interested starting your own edible garden, join Costa Kasimos at 12:00PM. “Want to grow your own food, but don’t know where to start? Let Costa show you the way and answer your question about what to plant and how to care for it. Whether you’re working with a big back yard or pots on your front step, there’s always a way to grow a few groceries.”

There will also be these outdoor activities:
